Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce interactive/online technical documentation
  • Manage and coordinate personnel and activities in support of the design, development, and production of training courses and course materials in compliance with USN policies
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation in accordance with the S1000 international specification
  • Use Integrated Development Environments to develop or maintain logistic products
  • Interpret specifications and technical documentation to write technical materials such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions
  • Develop, maintain, and produce Logistic Program Management plans or presentations (e.g., Integrated Logistic Support Plan, Life Cycle Sustainment Plans, Interim Logistic Support Plans)
  • Use AutoCAD to prepare 2D/3D drawings and SolidWorks drawings for electrical equipment manufacturing, installation, or repair
  • Gather and analyze source material, develop curricula, and provide operator and maintenance training for Navy Combat Weapon Systems

Requirements

  • Secret clearance
  • Baccalaureate degree or six years of technical writing experience in disciplines such as Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Multimedia Design/Development, Information Technology Systems, Illustrating Aerospace Engineering, Business Management, or Business Administration
  • Five (5) years of experience directly related to developing and producing interactive/online technical documentation
  • At least one (1) year of experience directly related to the management and coordination of personnel and activities in support of the design, development, and production of training courses and course materials utilizing USN policies, procedures, and standards for Navy Combat Weapon Systems (NAVEDTRA 130 series)
  • Two (2) years of experience with Content Management Systems, Learning Management Systems, and/or Sharable Content Object Reference Model
  • Two (2) years of experience with HMIS/IDEs and related development tools as listed (XML, HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access) and Adobe Communication Suite (Acrobat Pro, FrameMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, RoboHelp)
  • Experience using HP-UX file system and commands

Preferred

  • Demonstrated experience supervising content development and in Validation/Verification Events
  • PUBSATS onboard ships or labs, schedules
  • technical documentation life cycle development, distribution and disposal
  • experience using browser-based languages including XML, HTML, JavaScript and CSS
  • experience using Integrated Development Environments (IDE) to develop or maintain logistic products
  • experience with AutoCAD to prepare 2D or 3D drawings, wiring diagrams, circuit board diagrams, and layout drawings
  • experience with S1000 international specification for the procurement and production of technical publication
  • experience using Navy Databases: CDMD-OA, NDE, PMSMIS, ATIS, TDMIS, SMART-T, NSDER, ICAPS, AIM
