Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Mortgage Loan Originator Assistant is a production support partner whose primary purpose is to provide administrative, operational and member service support to both Mortgage Loan Originators (MLO) and Junior Mortgage Loan Originators (JMLO). The Mortgage Loan Originator Assistant will create and improve efficiency throughout the mortgage lending process. This role serves as a key partner to MLOs and JMLOs by coordinating loan activities, maintaining communication with members and internal partners, and managing day to day workflows to allow MLOs to focus on business development, relationship management and loan production.


Duties & Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for production support:

  • Provide administrative and operational support throughout the mortgage loan lifecycle.
  • Manage assigned loan pipelines to ensure documentation is complete, organized, and progressing according to established timelines.
  • Coordinate collection, review, and organization of required documentation.
  • Prepare loan scenarios and complete Loan Summary Worksheets.
  • Schedule appointments, closings, and meetings associated with the lending process.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining loan files to support quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Support multiple Mortgage Loan Officers and Junior Mortgage Loan Officers while effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Support Mortgage Loan Officers and Junior Mortgage Loan Officers by maximizing administrative efficiency, allowing greater focus on business development and loan production.
  • Assist with marketing initiatives, sales meetings, community events, and referral partner activities.
  • Contribute to the overall growth of the mortgage division through timely execution of production support activities.

Assumes responsibility for member and employee experience:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for members regarding documentation requirements, loan status updates, and general mortgage inquiries.
  • Maintain proactive communication with members, Realtors®, builders, title companies, attorneys, and internal business partners.
  • Monitor outstanding loan conditions and coordinate timely follow-up to help ensure efficient loan closings.
  • Deliver exceptional service that reinforces member confidence throughout the mortgage process.

Assumes responsibility for operational excellence and compliance:

  • Maintain accurate loan documentation in accordance with REV policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support quality control by ensuring loan files are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Protect confidential member information while adhering to all applicable lending regulations and privacy standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain proficiency with mortgage origination systems, lending platforms, and related technology.

Skills & Qualifications

Education/Certification & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years of experience in banking, mortgage lending, credit union operations, or a related financial services environment.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Experience supporting mortgage loan production.
  • Familiarity with mortgage origination systems.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage documentation and disclosures.
  • Understanding of TRID, RESPA, HMDA, and other applicable mortgage regulations.
  • Knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and portfolio mortgage products.
