Job Description

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, develops information, events, and designs products across public-facing and internal platforms to inform, engage, and build positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders; and performs related duties as required.
Be a strategic storyteller who can translate public safety operations, initiatives, and community partnerships into clear, engaging, and accessible content across web, intranet, social media, print, and events.
Have strong website and digital platform experience, including maintaining, updating, and improving user experience on public-facing websites and internal intranet systems.
Bring a multi-media skillset, with demonstrated experience in video production, photography, graphic design, and digital content creation that supports both communications and outreach goals.
Be comfortable supporting and executing events, including planning, logistics coordination, on-site media production, and post-event content development.
Understand audience-centered communication, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences including employees, community members, and partner organizations.
Be highly organized and adaptable, capable of managing multiple projects, shifting priorities, and time-sensitive requests, especially in a public safety environment.
Demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism, particularly when handling sensitive information, critical incidents, or high-visibility communications.
Be a collaborative partner, working effectively with leadership, sworn and professional staff, and external stakeholders to meet communication and engagement objectives.
Have a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, identifying opportunities to improve processes, expand outreach, and enhance the agency’s digital presence and community connection.

Requirements

Three years of full-time experience developing, planning and delivering communications, content and engagement initiatives across multiple platforms including websites, intranet, mobile applications, social media and events utilizing formats such as video, photography, print material, graphic design, audio, digital, and website media; OR a combination of related education and experience.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
Residency in Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.
