Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner and administrator of Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Mobile Studio (SMS and push notifications), Contact Builder, and data extensions.
  • Own the configuration, health, and roadmap of the broader marketing technology stack — including Zoom Events, Chili Piper, and monday.com — and evaluate and onboard new platforms as needs evolve.
  • Maintain platform documentation, naming conventions, folder structures, and reusable assets so the stack stays organized, auditable, and scalable.
  • Own the integration between Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce CRM — including Marketing Cloud Connect, synchronized data sources, field mapping, and the flow of records and engagement data between systems.
  • Partner with Enrollment Operations and IT to ensure data flows cleanly across SFMC, Salesforce, Zoom Events, Chili Piper, and monday.com, and to troubleshoot sync, subscriber, and data-quality issues.
  • Build and maintain the SQL queries and scheduled automations that segment audiences, refresh data extensions, and power personalization and reporting across platforms.
  • Design, build, and optimize automated journeys for each stage of the student lifecycle, in partnership with the teams that own each stage.
  • Translate the goals of Digital Marketing, Admissions & Enrollment, Advising, Education & Career Development, and IT into triggered, personalized, multi-channel communications across email, SMS, and push notifications.
  • Own both external, student-facing messaging and internal, staff-facing communications, tailoring content, channel, and cadence to each audience.
  • Build and manage dynamic content, merge fields, personalization, and journey entry/exit criteria so the right message reaches the right audience at the right moment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in marketing automation or lifecycle marketing, including hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience.
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud certification (e.g., Marketing Cloud Administrator, Email Specialist, or Developer). Required.
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and AMPscript for email development, personalization, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with SQL for building Salesforce Marketing Cloud data queries and automations.
  • Strong understanding of journey design, lead nurturing, and trigger-based campaign automation.
  • Experience with A/B and multivariate testing, audience segmentation, and performance optimization.
  • Deep knowledge of email and SMS marketing compliance, including CAN-SPAM, TCPA, GDPR, and FERPA, as well as industry best practices.
  • Hands-on builder who is equally comfortable configuring platforms and setting strategy.
  • Systems thinker who understands how tools, data, and teams connect and designs for the broader ecosystem.

Preferred

  • Additional Salesforce or Marketing Cloud certifications. (Preferred)
  • Experience administering or integrating Zoom Events, Chili Piper, monday.com, or comparable event, scheduling, and work-management platforms. (Preferred)
  • Experience in higher education, enrollment marketing, or another regulated, lifecycle-driven marketing environment. (Preferred)
