Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead generation & outreach — research and identify partners who'd love what we're building: travel publications, local tourism boards, history podcasters, walking tour operators, museum and historic site programs, hotel concierge networks, travel bloggers, retirement communities, genealogy enthusiasts. Draft personalized outreach. Manage pipelines.
  • Content & social — help us tell stories on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and beyond. Find places worth featuring (every neighborhood has a wild story). Write captions that don't sound like a brand wrote them.
  • Research — competitive intelligence, audience discovery, identifying the next category of travelers and explorers we should be reaching.
  • QA & product feedback — test new features before they ship. Find bugs. Suggest improvements. Your fresh eyes are valuable.
  • Whatever else comes up at a startup — this is the honest job description. Some weeks you'll do marketing, some weeks you'll help organize a creator launch, some weeks you'll be in a Google Doc figuring out a partnership pitch.

Requirements

  • Writes well. This is non-negotiable. Most of the job is communication — outreach emails, captions, briefs, internal docs.
  • Loves to travel, explore, or just nerds out on places + their history. You don't need credentials. You should care.
  • Self-directed. We'll tell you the goal, not the recipe. You'll figure out the recipe.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. Startup, small team, things change weekly.

Preferred

  • Bonus: experience with social media management, basic design (Figma/Canva), spreadsheet fluency, or any coding/technical background.

Benefits

  • real ownership of real outcomes (not coffee runs), a portfolio of work you can show, a founder reference, and a deep familiarity with how an early-stage consumer app actually grows from zero
