Job Summary

Own the local marketing and communications engine for a community nature center, coordinating multi-channel content and partnerships to drive audience engagement, program participation, and fundraising impact.

  • Digital Presence and Content Ops: Maintain WordPress, content calendar, and web assets with analytics to improve reach and programming.
  • Audience Engagement: Grow social channels, publish newsletters, and analyze results to inform outreach strategies.
  • Communications & Partnerships: Lead PR, media outreach, event listings, and community promotions to extend the center’s reach.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Nature Center’s annual marketing and communications plan
  • Maintain and update the organization’s website (WordPress), with occasional support from outside web developers
  • Manage and grow the Nature Center’s social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, analytics, and maintaining a content calendar
  • Create and distribute the Nature Center’s bi-monthly e-newsletter through MailChimp or similar platform
  • Analyze and report on website, email, and social media analytics to help inform marketing strategies, programming, and audience engagement
  • Coordinate marketing communications and public relations efforts, including press releases, media outreach, and external communications
  • Serve as a public-facing representative of the Nature Center when appropriate
  • Design and coordinate advertising placements in print and digital formats
  • Develop marketing collateral and promotional materials to support programs, fundraising, events, and organizational initiatives
  • Submit event listings and promotional information to community partners, online calendars, and local publications, including the City of Dunwoody newsletter

Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission of the Dunwoody Nature Center: inspiring a love of nature and cultivating environmental understanding and stewardship
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience managing social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and similar channels
  • Proficiency with WordPress, Canva, MailChimp (or similar email marketing platforms), and Google Workspace/Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a collaborative nonprofit environment
  • Experience with event promotion and community engagement preferred
  • Appreciation for the outdoors and willingness to learn about native ecosystems, flora, and fauna
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the organization positively within the community
