Job Summary

You will own the development and delivery of marketing materials, content creation for destinations, and partner activation, while evaluating customer experience and supporting sustainability and safety initiatives.

  • Create and refine digital and print marketing materials and content for articles, blogs, and newsletters.
  • Lead partnership activation through promotional materials and activities.
  • Travel to sites for feedback gathering and safety initiatives collaboration.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provide graphic design support by creating digital and print marketing materials.
  • Develop content for news articles, blogs, and newsletters featuring destination highlights, service updates, promotional offers, and more.
  • Update the digital media library.
  • Conduct onboard and station site visits to assess customer experience and gather feedback.
  • Provide partnership activation support through the creation and execution of promotional materials and activities.
  • Collaborate on sustainability-focused initiatives, such as projects aimed at reducing the organization’s carbon footprint or improving eco-friendly travel options.
  • Support operations in implementing rail safety initiatives in collaboration with California Operation Lifesaver, Union Pacific Railroad, and other local and regional partners.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Interest in transportation.
  • Interest in marketing, communications (media relations, public relations, community affairs, graphic design, social media, website design, etc.).
  • The ability to work onsite on a full-time basis. Only candidates currently residing within commuting distance of the site address will be considered.

  • Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the fellowship (SEI is unable to sponsor visas).
  • May require occasional moving about to accomplish tasks, moving from one worksite to another, or adjusting or moving objects under 25-50 pounds in all directions.
  • Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Preferred

  • Degrees in any of these fields - Marketing (graphic design, advertising), Communications (Journalism, Online/Print).
  • Experience or familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, social media posting platforms, and email marketing platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Internships with other marketing and communication firms.
