Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communications and Messaging: Support development and execution of the Division’s strategic marketing and communications plan.
  • Develop messaging that communicates R&I priorities, milestones and impacts to faculty, staff, students and stakeholders.
  • Translate complex research initiatives into clear, audience-centered narratives that enhance brand reputation and support stakeholder interaction with external facing functional areas.
  • Support executive communications, presentations and organizational updates.
  • Content Development and Editorial Management: Manage internal and external divisional communications.
  • Coordinate content development across functional areas.
  • Review and edit written materials and produce original content to support divisional initiatives.
  • Maintain consistency in tone, quality and alignment with PVAMU brand standards.
  • Brand Stewardship and Creative Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external creative partners to develop effective marketing and communications materials.
  • Ensure branding consistency, production quality and adherence to university style guidelines.
  • Manage project timelines and production workflows for print and digital deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Special Requirements: Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of six years of experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, project management or related field.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with WordPress or comparable content management systems preferred.
  • Experience utilizing project management software preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across functional areas.
