Own and drive social media strategy and content for History Education initiatives by researching, designing, and implementing plans, creating content for Instagram and Facebook, and increasing engagement with the teacher audience.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Work with Teacher Education staff to research, design, develop, and implement social media plan;
  • Develop content for Instagram and Facebook (@HistoryEdMNHS);
  • Research online tools, social media strategies, and make recommendations for future initiatives;
  • Attend social media meetings with supervisor and strategic communications as appropriate;
  • Develop and design monthly teacher email newsletters;
  • Increasing Instagram and Facebook engagement;
  • Conducting research to make recommendations for growing engagement with the teacher audience;
  • Suggest, develop, and oversee other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the past 12 months at the time of application.
  • Ideal candidates might be currently pursuing, or a graduate with a degree in the following areas: Education, History, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • Undergraduate junior or senior able to work well independently and in a team setting.
  • Experience planning, developing, and implementing projects, conducting research, video creation and building good working relationships with a diverse pool of people is required.
  • Student must be self-motivated, comfortable using social-media technologies, possess excellent written communication skills, and be able to think creatively.
  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram, and/or other social media outlets required.
  • Experience with education and/or history is preferred.
  • Experience with engaging students in a variety of contexts is a plus.
