Job Description

Lead and shape AH&H’s communications strategy across channels, guiding storytelling and brand reputation as Head of Communications.

  • Translate leadership’s communications and content strategy into compelling storytelling across all channels.
  • Develop and implement a measurement framework to track performance across socials, website, email, and digital campaigns.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies that guide internal/external messaging, PR efforts, and brand reputation.
  • Maintain a real-time understanding of field operations to reflect day-to-day activity in communications.
  • Balance priorities based on organizational needs, allocating team capacity and budget to support timely communications.
  • Lead the development and management of the annual editorial calendar.
  • Facilitate regular newsroom meetings to coordinate storytelling priorities and align with on-the-ground developments.
  • Serve as final editorial reviewer for all creative assets ensuring quality and brand consistency.
  • Apply a strong creative vision and editorial standard before and after publication.
  • Prepare customized updates for co-founders, board members, and executive leadership as needed.
  • Must-have: At least 10 years of progressive communications/PR experience in a global or nonprofit setting.
  • Must-have: Experience leading integrated strategies across web, social, email, and press; strong media relations.
  • Strong leadership and people management with proficiency in Notion, Google Workspace, Slack, Canva, ActiveCampaign, WordPress/Gutenberg.
