ABOUT ALOHA HARVEST

Aloha Harvest is Hawaiʻi’s largest food rescue nonprofit, dedicated to eliminating food waste and food insecurity by collecting quality surplus food and redistributing it to those in need. Since 1999, we have worked with partners across the community to ensure good food is never wasted while people go hungry.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fund Development Specialist plays a key role in supporting and growing Aloha Harvest’s fundraising efforts, including grants, donor communications, and sponsorship development. This position is responsible for managing funding pipelines, supporting donor engagement, grant support and helping strengthen long-term revenue sustainability for the organization.

This is a highly collaborative, mission-driven role ideal for someone who is a strong writer, detail-oriented, and passionate about food security in Hawaiʻi.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Donor & Sponsorship Support
  • Assist in donor cultivation, stewardship, and retention efforts
  • Draft donor communications, thank-you letters, and impact updates
  • Support corporate sponsorship outreach and partnership materials
  • Help prepare presentations and materials for donor meetings
  • Fundraising Operations & CRM Management
  • Maintain accurate donor and grant records in CRM/database systems
  • Track donations, grants, and fundraising performance metrics
  • Support data entry, reporting, and donor segmentation efforts
  • Ensure data integrity and timely updates across systems
  • Communications & Storytelling (Fundraising Support)
  • Translate program impact into compelling fundraising narratives
  • Collaborate with marketing/communications staff on donor-facing content
  • Support creation of annual reports, newsletters, and campaign materials
  • Grant Support
  • Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources
  • Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations in collaboration with Executive Director and Grant writer
  • Help to prepare grant reports in collaboration Executive Director, Bookkeeper and Data Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 2–4 years of experience in fundraising, grants, communications, nonprofit development, or related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and clarity
  • Experience with grant writing or proposal development (required or highly preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workload independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
  • Comfort working with databases or CRM systems (Salesforce, etc.)

Preferred

  • Experience in Hawaiʻi nonprofit sector or community-based organizations
  • Familiarity with foundation, corporate, or government funding processes
  • Experience supporting donor relations or fundraising campaigns
  • Understanding of food security, hunger relief, or environmental sustainability issues
  • Basic design or communications experience (Canva or similar tools)

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
