Job Description

Responsibilities

  • 65% - Event Planning
  • 35% - Marketing
  • The Event and Marketing Specialist, under the general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, manages all department-hosted faculty related events (ranging in size from 100 to 1,000 participants), both virtual and in-person overseeing the entire event lifecycle.
  • The Event and Marketing Specialist develops and distributes marketing material for department-hosted events via print, website and social media.
  • Additionally, the Event and Marketing Specialist manages the department’s social media accounts and quarterly e-newsletters as well as assisting with the annual printed newsletter and the department website.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Experience planning and managing all aspects of conferences and events.
  • Experience developing marketing strategies and writing social media posts.
  • Demonstrated organization skills with strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while juggling multiple priorities
  • Strong communication, writing, editing and Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets.
  • Interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively interact with people of varying ages and cultural backgrounds, in person and in writing; ability to clarify situations and resolve problems; ability to exercise tact and diplomacy, especially to resolve disagreements and conflicts.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of and experience with campus systems such as AggieExpense.
  • Graphic design skills.
  • Web design skills.
  • Knowledge of UC Davis travel and entertainment policies.
