Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) is seeking to fill one vacant Education and Information Officer position in either Sparks or Las Vegas to support the Industry Development & Marketing team.
  • Under the direction of the Industry and Global Trade Coordinator, this role helps strengthen the economic vitality and visibility of Nevada’s food, beverage, and agriculture sectors by coordinating industry-facing programs, producing economic research and reports, and connecting Nevada businesses with domestic and international market opportunities.
  • The incumbent manages the Nevada Craft Beverage Passport program, including recruiting establishments, securing sponsors, ordering materials, coordinating mailings, and maintaining program data.
  • The position also supports agribusiness promotion through events such as Taste of Nevada, the Farmers Market Pavilion at the State Fair of Nevada, the NDA Small Business of the Year award, and other initiatives.
  • Analytical duties include compiling and interpreting data for the biennial Agriculture Economic Analysis report and preparing an annual trade report using reputable federal and state sources.
  • The position contributes to NDA’s international trade efforts through WUSATA and assists with administering federal and state grants.
  • Additional duties include representing NDA at events, preparing and reviewing informational materials and surveys, and occasionally assisting with intern oversight.
  • Travel is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an area of specialization relevant to the agency to which assigned and two years of professional experience which included responsibilities for researching, writing, instructing, and presenting informational and educational material; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
