Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Oversee CMS (content management system) implementation and administration, and manage stakeholders through the system
  • Lead design, development, content, brand and user experience of ferris.edu and related websites
  • Direct continuing evolution of the ferris.edu site to exceed best practices and maintain customer focus
  • Supervise Web Marketing Team (full-time, part-time, student staff) and provide professional development
  • Organize CMS training for colleagues and review content for relevance and accuracy
  • Monitor ferris.edu usage and enforce the university web policy
  • Use Omni Insights and analytics tools to evaluate SEO and performance, ensure accessibility, brand consistency, and fix broken/invalid content
  • Maintain and update the university’s website calendar, content clarity and spelling
  • Assist departments with content development and updates, including SEO, photos, videos, social feeds, and web forms compliant with privacy laws (FERPA, GDPR)
  • Manage internal CMS search function; collaborate with IT Services to meet traffic demands; ensure policies for privacy and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure knowledge of current laws relevant to Internet and web publishing; ensure WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility; plan digital marketing and advertising; oversee university social media across platforms
  • Serve as part of Emergency Management Team for 24/7 emergency website communications; comply with driving requirements when applicable
  • Promote an inclusive environment and support student enrollment and retention initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience with designing, constructing, developing content for, and maintaining websites
  • Three years of website development and/or management experience, including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Google Analytics, SEO, Adobe Photoshop, and W3C standards
  • Experience with Content Management System-driven websites
  • Demonstrated work experience with Web design and other related creative concept development
  • Demonstrated team management/leadership/mentorship experience with strong organizational, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated work experience with customer service emphasis and/or collaborative, project-based assignments

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, and/or Public Relations (preferable in higher education)
  • Experience with Classic ASP, ASP.net, XML/XSLT, PHP, and SQL
  • Experience creating accessible documents using Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word
  • Knowledge of Ferris State University structures, constituencies, academic programs, and mission/values
  • Experience with digital advertising creation, placement, and monitoring
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and analytics
