Purpose and Scope

The  Director Creative is the visual and conceptual lead of our commercial organization. They lead a small in-house design team ensuring that every touchpoint, from HCP-facing promotional materials to patient support programs, reflect our therapeutic credibility and brand standards.

This role demands equal fluency in day-to-day executional excellence and long-horizon strategic thinking. You will be a key collaborator with Brand Marketing, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Market Access.

In collaboration with brand leads and agency partners, this role will be responsible for guiding brand creative development including visual identity, disease awareness assets, HCP campaign, and patient-facing materials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·         In collaboration with brand leads, own and steward the visual brand standards across all on-market products and Tolmar as a brand, ensuring consistency across print, digital, congress, and field-force materials.

·         Lead creative strategy and execution for the pipeline brands from pre-launch identity development through launch campaign delivery.

·         Direct, mentor, and develop a small in-house design team fostering craft, accountability, and creative ambition.

·         Assist in creative agency relationships: briefing, reviewing, and challenging agency output to ensure it meets brand standards, strategic intent and regulatory requirements.

·         Partner with Brand Managers to translate product strategy and clinical evidence into compelling, compliant creative platforms.

·         Navigate the MRL (Medical, Regulatory, Legal) review process with efficiency, building compliant creative workflows that protect both quality and timelines.

·         Oversee promotional material production across formats: detail aids, patient brochures, digital ads, congress booth design, slide decks, video, etc.

·         Manage the creative budget in partnership with marketing, optimizing spending across in-house production and external agency work.

·         Stay current with pharmaceutical marketing regulations (ABPI/EFPIA or FDA/PhRMA guidelines, as applicable), evolving digital channels, and design trends in healthcare.

·         Creation of in-house presentations and templates as needed

·         Champion accessibility and inclusive design principles across all patient-facing materials.

·         Perform various other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

Required

·         Proven ability to manage and develop a design team

·         Strong portfolio demonstrating brand-building across print and digital channels

·         Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred

·         Familiarity with DAM systems and workflow tools

·         Working knowledge of data visualization for clinical and outcomes data

 

Education & Experience

Required:

·         10+ years of graphic design experience, with at least 3 in a senior or lead creative role

·         Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated life sciences marketing

·         Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); familiarity with Figma or equivalent

·         Experience working within MRL or equivalent regulatory review processes

Preferred:

·         Experience leading or contributing to a pharmaceutical brand launch

·         Background working with HCP and patient audience segmentation

·         Exposure to market access or payer-facing creative materials

·         Agency-side experience prior to moving in-house

·         Experience in oncology, rare diseases, or specialty therapeutics

 

Working Conditions

·         Office environment; requiring sitting and standing.

 

Compensation   

Tolmar compensation programs are focused on equitable, fair pay practices, including market-based base pay and a strong benefits package. The final compensation offered may vary from the posted range based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.  

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between ($165,000-$220,000/year); however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/26 through 12/31/26, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
