Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the league-wide content strategy, aligning storytelling with brand, marketing, audience growth, and business objectives.
  • Define the editorial vision, content architecture, and narrative framework that guides storytelling across all owned channels.
  • Shape and lead the league's integrated storytelling approach across social media, editorial, video, digital platforms, SEO, and emerging channels.
  • Develop season-long storytelling plans that elevate players, rivalries, tentpole events, league initiatives, and fan culture.
  • Oversee and mentor the league's social media function through the Senior Manager, Social Media.
  • Lead cross-functional storytelling planning across Growth Marketing, Video Production, Broadcast, Communications, Partnerships, Community Impact, and Team Business Operations.
  • Define KPIs and success metrics for the league's content ecosystem and translate performance data into actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor industry trends, platform evolution, and audience behavior to continually evolve the league's content strategy.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial, brand storytelling, or digital media.
  • Experience developing integrated content strategies for a national or global sports property, entertainment brand, media company, or consumer brand.
  • Proven ability to translate business objectives into audience-first content strategies.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and content optimization within a multi-channel storytelling strategy.
  • Deep understanding of digital media, social platforms, audience behavior, and evolving content trends.
  • Experience measuring content performance and translating insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, and ability to travel as needed.
  • This position may be based in either the United States or Canada. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in their country of residence on a full-time basis.

Preferred

  • Strong understanding of the women's sports landscape and a passion for advancing visibility and storytelling in the space.
  • Deep understanding of the PWHL, its athletes, teams, and fan community.
  • Experience collaborating directly with athletes, talent, or influencers.
  • Experience launching or scaling content strategies for emerging brands, leagues, or media properties.
