Job Summary

Build and own the public relations engine for a major arts institution, turning exhibitions, programs and acquisitions into high visibility through press materials and strategic media outreach.

Job Description

Own museum wide media strategy and external storytelling, aligning with the Director and departments to shape press materials and messaging across channels.

  • Lead media relations for exhibitions, programs, acquisitions, and institutional initiatives, coordinating with Curatorial, Education, and Design teams to shape coverage.
  • Develop institutional messaging, press materials, fact sheets, and story ideas to drive high visibility with targeted outlets.
  • Manage stakeholder communications and events including Board newsletters, Community Impact updates, and member programs to support ongoing press and public engagement.
  • Serve as a primary media contact for inquiries related to exhibitions, public programs, and institutional initiatives to secure timely coverage.
  • Coordinate promotional materials and content for publications, annual reports, and promotional collateral to maintain consistent messaging and branding.
  • Assist in protecting the Museum's copyright and visual quality standards for media reproduction and publications.
  • Attend community meetings and planning sessions to stay aligned with curatorial and marketing activities.
  • Establish spokesperson readiness and media training across key staff for high profile interviews and events.
  • Supports content development for Museum publications and outreach materials when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Directors Office to plan strategy for high visibility media during special initiatives.
