Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Communications & Editorial: Serve as editor and lead communicator for Fellow-facing content, including the Weekly Update, Fellows emails (Real Magnet), and the Sponsor Quarterly Newsletter. Lead messaging for the Communications Committee and its subcommittees, State Chairs outreach, webinar programming, and social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, X).
  • Digital & Web: Manage website content updates for actec.org and actecfoundation.org, supervising the Technical Support Coordinator on digital and administrative execution.
  • Media & Public Relations: Serve as primary media liaison, building relationships with trade and consumer press, pitching stories, and preparing spokespeople for interviews.
  • Branding & Strategy: Partner with the Executive Director and Digital Marketing Consultants to shape and maintain ACTEC’s brand and messaging strategy.
  • Meetings Support: Coordinate communications collateral for national, regional, and state meetings and the ACTEC Fellows Institutes with the Meetings team.
  • Membership & Growth: Use ACTEC’s channels to grow nominations, membership engagement, and Foundation participation (fundraising, competitions, Law Journal calls for papers).
  • Budget Oversight: Manage a comprehensive communications budget, identifying cost efficiencies and revenue opportunities.
  • Planning: Maintain the Communications Calendar and outreach plans for major ACTEC and Foundation programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 7–10 years of progressive in-house experience in association management and communications planning.
  • Excellent writing, copyediting, and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to tactfully motivate volunteer contributors to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; a results-oriented, quality-focused approach.
  • Experience directing desktop publishing professionals.
  • Ability to travel to and support three national meetings per year.
