  • Media strategy ownership including press outreach, messaging, and rapid response.
  • Stakeholder and audience: reporters, constituents, and district stakeholders via press, social, and events.
  • Channel and tool focus: press materials, social content, website, and media events to drive coverage and visibility.

Job Description

Own state senate communications by building and running the media program across press, digital, and events; coordinate messaging with leadership and deliver fast, trusted responses.

  • Develop a comprehensive media strategy with the Senator and Chief of Staff.
  • Screen incoming media requests and recommend actions.
  • Draft and disseminate press releases on legislative, budget, and local priorities.
  • Draft and edit quotes, op-eds, speeches, talking points, and newsletters.
  • Maintain media contacts and build relationships with reporters.
  • Research and pitch stories and respond to media inquiries.
  • Coordinate media availabilities, press conferences, and interviews.
  • Monitor news outlets and social media mentions of the Senator.
  • Manage official social media accounts and create digital content.
