Responsibilities

• Work closely with cross-functional project team focused on building and improving the State of Connecticut’s websites and digital assets.
• Assess customer needs and create high-impact content for web pages, digital applications, chatbots, user guides, and other customer-facing assets.
• Structure content, write it, and apply it in user-focused page design; track content effectiveness.
• Communicate user benefits over features; demonstrate mastery of content taxonomy, SEO, service design, and optimizing customer journeys.
• Understand audience and clearly communicate how content will address their needs to stakeholders.
• Communicate content issues and solutions to various levels of stakeholders.
• Content Lifecycle Governance tasks: define needs, identify gaps, categorize content to align with service-oriented IA, work with SMEs, review/improve content for accuracy, legibility, accessibility, and compliance with guidelines, set up governance models for post-publish maintenance.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of measurable Website Content Writing experience including: developing modern content for large websites; creating high-level content strategies; planning for discovery, analysis, segmentation, creation, delivery, tracking, and governance of content; aligning content with business goals; inventorying and auditing content; copywriting; in-depth topic research; content pieces for content marketing; editing and proofreading.
• At least 3 years of SEO and analytics experience: keyword research, SEO strategies, technical and on-page SEO, KPI development, tracking content success, using site analytics to prove content meets user needs.
• At least 3 years of Content Lifecycle Governance experience: defining customer needs, optimizing content for service-oriented IA, working with SMEs, reviewing content for accuracy and accessibility, structuring content for user expectations, governance models for post-publish maintenance.
• Knowledge of Sitecore or a comparable CMS; Content creation for websites; Expert copywriting and editing; Content marketing; SEO and analytics; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Jira; Effective communication skills; High emotional intelligence

Preferred

• A portfolio of published online content
• Industry certification in a field-related discipline
• 1 year of experience using customer relationship management platforms such as Salesforce
• 1 year of experience using Google Analytics (preferable GA4)
• 1 year of experience using data dashboard software like Power Bi
• Proficient in Sitecore CMS platform
• Bachelor\'s degree in UX, Web Design, Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field
• 3 years of website content writing for a company or institution in a full-time role with defined project-driven goals
• Proficient in Digital content standards and plain language guidelines
• Experience with chatbots, search consoles, and helpdesk services
• Proficiency with content tools, especially development, inventory/auditing, and SEO tools
