Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management: Create engaging content for the shelter and thrift store’s social media platforms; collaborate on planning and scheduling content to maximize impact
  • Graphic Design and Marketing: Develop eye-catching graphics and marketing materials for events, programs, and initiatives
  • Assistance: Contribute to planning of and attend two large-scale adoption events and participate in one planning committee
  • Exceptional Customer Service: Interact with community members across online, phone, and in-person channels, delivering exceptional service and fostering positive relationships
  • Adaptable Assistance: Be prepared to assist with tasks as needed, showing flexibility across different activities

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., graphic design, communications, marketing)
  • Proficient with computers; familiar with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Google Suite; access to a personal laptop is required
  • Self-motivated and organized; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Passion for animals; comfort around cats and dogs of all ages and sizes
  • Sense of community and commitment to community service
  • Interns must be available to work two days per week, 4–6 hours per day (8–12 hours per week total); in-office presence during 9:00AM–5:00PM; time may be split between shelter and thrift store
  • Strong ability to contribute to planning and attending events and campaigns

Preferred

  • Educational Background: Currently pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., graphic design, communications, marketing) is preferred but not required
