Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Parish Communications Coordinator will work collaboratively with the staff at St. Timothy Catholic Church to facilitate communications within the office staff, the faith community and the surrounding community. This is a part-time, 12-month position, working 10 weekly hours.
  • Create a bilingual Parish Bulletin each week that contains timely announcements and promotes upcoming important events.
  • Photograph, or arrange for photography to be carried out, for all important parish events, collect photos from others if needed.
  • Submit the bulletin via upload software from FATA on Tuesdays by 2pm (if there are holidays, deadline will move up to prior Friday by 5pm).
  • Prepare a Wednesday parish-wide bilingual Blast of timely topics and include the link for the bulletin.
  • Highlight events on Facebook to increase exposure and information dissemination.
  • Assist in answering and returning phone calls related to communication topics.
  • Support staff with translations for communications in Spanish when needed.
  • Maintain the Parish webpage and social media in both English and Spanish.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be proficient in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Proficient in basic computer applications such as: Word, Excel and Canva.
  • Willing to learn to use current publishing software OR willing to convert bulletin to a different publishing software.
  • Excellent time management skills. Able to prioritize projects and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Possess (or be willing to learn) Webpage design/maintenance skills.
  • Proficiency with social media (especially Facebook, Instagram and YouTube).
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing.
  • Must be VIRTUS certified through the Archdiocese of Baltimore and maintain that qualification.

Preferred

  • Video editing is a plus.
