  • Lead external agencies and ensure alignment with business goals
  • Drive SEO-led content, editorial planning, and cross-channel execution

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own the content strategy. Build and maintain a unified content plan that connects SEO priorities, PR opportunities, social campaigns, and blog publishing into a single, coherent roadmap tied to business goals.
  • Direct our agency and PR partners. Act as the day-to-day lead for our SEO/content agency and PR firm — setting priorities, writing briefs, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring their work ladders up to our strategy rather than running in silos.
  • Drive SEO-led content. Partner with our agency on keyword strategy, content gap analysis, on-page optimization, and editorial planning. Translate SEO insights into content that ranks and resonates.
  • Run the editorial calendar. Coordinate publishing across blog, social, and earned media so campaigns launch in sync. Keep every stakeholder — internal and external — aligned on what's shipping, when, and why.
  • Create content by any means necessary. Write it yourself, generate strong first drafts with AI tools, brief internal design team members for visual and media assets, or combine all three. You care about the output, not the method.
  • Make social work. Know what performs on each channel and shape content accordingly — adapting long-form pieces into platform-native posts, spotting trends worth joining, and working with internal resources on media development.
  • Coordinate content releases with internal channel owners. Partner closely with our Lifecycle Marketing Manager to align content launches with email and lifecycle campaigns, and with our Digital Marketing Specialists who own organic social releases — ensuring every piece of content is sequenced, packaged, and timed for maximum impact across owned channels.
  • Leverage AI and marketing platforms. Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Jasper) and content/marketing platforms (e.g., CMS, social schedulers, SEO tools like Ahrefs/Semrush, project management tools) to plan, produce, and distribute content at a pace one person couldn't otherwise sustain.
  • Measure everything. Define KPIs across channels (organic traffic, rankings, engagement, share of voice, conversions), build simple reporting rhythms, and use the data to double down on what works and kill what doesn't.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally. Work fluidly with lifecycle marketing, digital marketing, design, product, sales, and leadership to source subject-matter expertise, align messaging, and keep content connected to what the business actually needs.

Requirements

  • 4–7+ years in content strategy, content marketing, or a closely related role
  • Proven experience managing external agencies and/or PR firms as the primary client-side contact
  • Strong working knowledge of SEO — keyword research, content optimization, and how to translate agency recommendations into action
  • Demonstrated understanding of what performs across major social channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube — as relevant to our audience)
  • Hands-on fluency with AI content tools and modern marketing platforms; you use them daily to plan, draft, and distribute
  • Excellent writing and editing skills — you can create publish-ready content yourself when needed
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills; you can run multiple workstreams without dropping threads
  • Analytics fluency — comfortable in GA4, SEO tools, and social analytics, and able to turn data into decisions
  • A self-starter's bias for action: you find the work, scope it, and get it moving without heavy direction

Preferred

  • Experience with media development (video, audio, visual storytelling) or directing designers on it
  • Familiarity with [your industry]
  • Experience building content measurement dashboards (Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar)

Benefits

  • Benefits: Health insurance, 401(k), paid time off (PTO), and fertility benefits
