Job Description

Responsibilities

Identify core audiences for content and re-organize content to ensure a positive user experience.
Partner with the Director of Integrated Marketing to weave the SJSU brand voice throughout the website and digital ecosystem.
Track website content changes and log all content-related work for measurement.
Establish a content governance strategy for SJSU, in partnership with UMC and IT leadership.
Work closely with the agency of record to support recommendations around web governance and content strategy for the website redesign.
Leverage SEMRush or other tools to ensure website copy is optimized and search-friendly.
Utilize web crawlers (e.g., Screaming Frog), analytics (Google Analytics/Adobe/GSC) and SEO/AEO tools (SEMrush/Ahrefs) to audit content at scale and keep the project organized.
Work closely with the Content Migration Specialist to assess all website content for the redesign: archive, condense, or keep.
Draft new content or refresh existing content across all sjsu.edu web pages.
Refresh stories, develop new content that illustrates the brand and fact-check content, as needed.

Requirements

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Four (4) years of relevant experience.

Preferred

Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field.
A minimum of four years of professional web content/content strategy experience
Experience with large or complex websites
Demonstrated SEO/AEO, content governance, accessibility, CMS, analytics, and web writing experience
