Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Communications Specialist III writes and edits communications for a college, division, and/or the University under minimal supervision. Develops and implements plans, activities, and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms, including digital and physical mediums. Participates in planning and execution of special projects to support the assigned area's overall development and marketing strategies.
  • Leads the cross-departmental coordination and planning of communications, both internal and external, that keep the law school’s various audiences informed and its communications output consistent. Works with significant independence under the direction of communications leadership and understands that strong internal communication is the foundation of a strong external reputation.

Requirements

  • Required Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge:  Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats and audiences. Ability to coordinate across departments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to demonstrate a high level of initiative. Proficiency with Microsoft 365. Familiarity with content management and email communication platforms. Ability to work independently and exercise sound editorial judgment.

Preferred

  • Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in higher education or professional services communications. Experience coordinating cross-functional communications efforts or serving as a liaison between a central communications function and embedded departmental communicators. Experience managing internal communications channels, content workflows, and editorial calendars. Familiarity with brand governance and institutional messaging frameworks. Experience with content planning tools and internal communication platforms.
