Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Communications Specialist leads all communications efforts, serving as a staff writer tasked with crafting messages for internal and external audiences and managing communications projects for the Tulane School of Social Work.
  • This position develops, writes, and implements content that includes long-form feature writing, as well as web, advertising, and social media copy, and a wide variety of other project work across multiple channels for the School.
  • The Communications Specialist creates and edits storytelling content for PR, marketing, and social media initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or other closely related fields.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree
  • 3 years of experience in communications in higher education
  • 3 years of social media and communications experience
  • Outstanding written communication and editorial skills using AP Style.
  • Must be organized, self-sufficient, and able to work with autonomy as well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to produce in-house videos (filming, script writing, and editing).
  • Proficiency in content management systems including Drupal.
  • Proficiency in multimedia/creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, etc.) and/or Final Cut Pro.
  • Proficiency and track record in social media platform creation, content management, and posting.
  • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of applications applicable to the responsibilities of the position.
