Own and support communications operations by assisting with media releases, writing and editing, website and social media tasks, calendar planning, events support, and back-up duties under supervision.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Prepare news (media) releases under the communications manager's supervision
Provide support to the manager and communications specialists in the areas of writing, proofing and editing documents
Provide support to the manager and specialists with website maintenance, social media and video/photography
Assist with calendar creation under the supervision of the manager and specialists
Assist the Special Events Coordinator as needed
Assist communications secretaries with clerical duties and functions
Provide support and back-up in the Duplication/Mailroom department as needed
Attend weekend and night functions as needed

Requirements

Candidate must be currently enrolled as a college student
Majoring in communications, Journalism or related field
Excellent writing, proofing and editing skills required
Social media knowledge and skills required
Experience in website content management preferred
Graphic design skills preferred
Working knowledge of MS Office and desktop publishing using Adobe software preferred
Digital photography skills preferred

Created in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Chester County Intermediate Unit is a regional educational service agency that exists to provide quality, cost-effective services to the community and its residents. The Chester County Intermediate Unit administers instructional, enrichment and administrative programs and services to Chester County’s 12 public school districts, and to over 45 private and parochial schools in the county.
