Job Summary

You will own hands-on support across communications tasks, from drafting and editing releases to maintaining digital content and coordinating events.

  • Assist with calendars, events, and back-up duties in the mailroom/duplication areas

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Prepare news (media) releases under the communications manager's supervision
  • Provide support to the manager and communications specialists in the areas of writing, proofing and editing documents
  • Provide support to the manager and specialists with website maintenance, social media and video/photography
  • Assist with calendar creation under the supervision of the manager and specialists
  • Assist the Special Events Coordinator as needed
  • Assist communications secretaries with clerical duties and functions
  • Provide support and back-up in the Duplication/Mailroom department as needed
  • Attend weekend and night functions as needed

Requirements

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled as a college student
  • Majoring in communications, Journalism or related field
  • Excellent writing, proofing and editing skills required
  • Social media knowledge and skills required
  • Experience in website content management preferred
  • Graphic design skills preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and desktop publishing using Adobe software preferred
  • Digital photography skills preferred

Created in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Chester County Intermediate Unit is a regional educational service agency that exists to provide quality, cost-effective services to the community and its residents.
