Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Digital Communications
  • C ollaborate with ONV board & team members, & attend regular ONV meetings to understand current messaging needs, that will be used on communications. ONV board will provide guidance on where to acquire information to be used in communications.
  • Create, schedule, and manage engaging content for ONV’s Facebook and Instagram pages, including graphics, short-form video, and timely responses to comments and messages.
  • Design, write, and send regular email newsletters and action alerts to ONV’s 25,000-subscriber mailing list, tracking open and click-through rates to improve engagement over time.
  • Maintain a consistent editorial calendar and voice across all channels, aligned with ONV’s campaign messaging and milestones.
  • Materials & Outreach Assets
  • Design and maintain a polished digital information packet (PDF) summarizing ONV’s mission, the proposed constitutional amendment, and campaign progress, suitable for distribution to partner organizations, elected officials, and the press.
  • Update the packet regularly as the campaign evolves and tailor versions for specific audiences when needed.
  • Events & Fundraising
  • Assist board members in planning and coordinating fundraisers, house parties, town halls, and other events that build financial support and public momentum for the 2028 ballot measure.

Requirements

  • 1–3+ years of experience in communications, digital marketing, campaigns, or nonprofit/political advocacy.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone across social media, email, press materials, and letters to the editor.
  • Working knowledge of Meta Business Suite (Facebook/Instagram) and email platforms such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar.
  • Comfort with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) and PDF layout for outreach materials.
  • Experience organizing events or fundraisers, from concept through execution.
  • Familiarity with California land-use, housing policy, or ballot-measure campaigns is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Existing relationships with California advocacy organizations, local officials, or press contacts a plus, but not required.
