COMMUNICATIONSMARKETING COORDINATOR ($60,00 – $65,000)

Canyon seeks a full-time CommunicationsMarketing Coordinator to support Canyon's public relations and marketing efforts.

Who we are

Canyon is a contemporary art space opening in Fall 2026 on the Lower East Side of New York City, dedicated to the exhibition of time-based media art and performance.

Position Overview

The CommunicationsMarketing Coordinator provides essential administrative and execution support to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) and the extended department in shaping and building Canyon's global reputation as a premier destination for time-based art. This role is responsible for the daily execution of tasks related to earned media (PR) and paid reach (Marketing). This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is ready to sharpen their professional communications skills.

As we approach our Fall 2026 opening, this role will assist the CCO in drafting key messages and executing campaigns that support both cultural prestige and measurable revenue. This is a role for a detail-oriented individual who can transition seamlessly from assisting with media pitches to coordinating assets for advertising campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

Press Relations

  • Press Strategy Support: Work directly with the CCO to support and deliver overarching media campaigns for exhibitions, public programs, institutional milestones, and brand-building announcements.
  • Media Support: Assist as a point of contact for the press. Draft press releases, pitches, and messaging that align with Canyon's vision.
  • ExecutiveOn-Site Coordination: Coordinate press previews, photo/video shoots, and media interviews, acting as on-site support to journalists experiencing our space.
  • Media Asset Management: Maintain the digital press room, including press releases, images, and videos as well as archive press clippings.
  • General Department Administration: Maintain the CommunicationsMarketing department's expense reports and work management system. Assist in scheduling meetings on behalf of the CCO.

Integrated MarketingAdvertising

  • Launch Campaign Execution: Support in the execution of paid advertising campaigns across digital, social, and print platforms to hit attendance and revenue targets.
  • Visual Identity (LookFeel): Assist the Head of Creative to ensure all advertising collateral reflects the Canyon brand and is delivered on schedule.
  • VendorPartner Coordination: Assist in managing communication with our ad agency, Out-of-Home (OOH) vendors, and cultural partners.
  • Cross-Departmental Storytelling: Partner with the Associate Director of Digital Strategy to turn artistic initiatives into "marketable" stories, drafting compelling copy for paid partnerships and social ads.
  • Performance Intelligence: Compile campaign performance metrics for the CCO, helping to track the marketing budget in real-time.

Required SkillsQualifications

Foundational Experience: 1–3+ years of experience in communications or marketing, with an interest in the New York cultural landscape.

  • Communication Skills: Strong writing and editing skills. Ability to adapt Canyon's voice for various communications, from a press release to a social ad.
  • Technical Agility: Foundational proficiency in social media ad managers, basic SEO strategy, and CRM systems is a plus.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work in "lock-step" with leadership and internal teams.
  • Organizational Focus: Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail Obsession: A rigorous eye for detail that ensures every press release and every ad placement is flawless.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred.
