Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Making headlines for all the right reasons – developing and delivering creative media strategies that get Virgin, Virgin Unite and our companies noticed across the US and beyond.
  • Putting purpose in the spotlight – proactively uncovering and telling the stories behind Virgin Unite's work, from inspiring partnerships and campaigns to initiatives driving positive social change.
  • Building brilliant media relationships – connecting with journalists, editors and influencers across consumer, business, philanthropic and social-impact media to secure meaningful coverage.
  • Bringing stories to life – creating compelling press releases, thought leadership pieces, executive communications and content that connects with different audiences.
  • Working with some big names – partnering with senior executives, high-profile individuals and teams across the Virgin family to shape messaging, spot opportunities and bring campaigns and announcements to life.
  • Keeping us ahead of the conversation – staying on top of cultural moments, emerging trends and the news agenda, while helping navigate sensitive issues, manage reputational risks and respond confidently when things don’t go to plan.
  • Making every story count – tracking media coverage, measuring impact and using insights to make our communications even better.

Requirements

  • A strong communications track record – experience in PR, media relations or communications, with a knack for securing impactful coverage and delivering creative campaigns.
  • A genuine passion for purpose – you're excited by the opportunity to tell stories that make a difference. Experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic, sustainability or social-impact space would be a big plus.
  • Experience navigating complex organisations – you're comfortable juggling different priorities, audiences and stakeholders. Whether you've worked in an agency or in-house across a large, multifaceted business, you know how to see the bigger picture.
  • Brilliant storytelling and media instincts – you're a confident writer, a natural relationship-builder and someone who knows what makes a story worth telling. Experience in travel, experiences or loyalty would be a bonus, but isn't essential.
  • Confidence with people at every level – you're equally comfortable building relationships with journalists, collaborating with colleagues and advising senior leaders or high-profile individuals. You bring sound judgement, warmth and credibility to every conversation.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset – you thrive when things aren't completely mapped out, can switch gears when priorities change and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves. You're curious, creative and comfortable using AI tools to work smarter, without losing the human touch that makes great communications stand out.

Preferred

  • Experience in travel, experiences or loyalty would be a bonus, but isn’t essential.
  • Experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic, sustainability or social-impact space would be a big plus.
