Job Description

Our Global Support Center/ Corporate Office is in the Energy Corridor- off I10 and N Eldridge.

This is a hybrid position requiring an on-site presence 3 to 4 days per week. Please note that the number of days on-site can increase based on business needs.

Position Summary

  • Serve as the communications lead for the assigned function(s) and the respective leadership, supporting both internal- and external-facing needs. Design and execute communication strategies, plans and approaches for the assigned function(s), associated programs and initiatives. Deliver compelling and aligned messaging and ensure stakeholders are informed, inspired and engaged.

  • Manage all related communications channels, including portal, omni-channel platform, video, social media, SharePoint and email as it relates to the assigned organization(s). Drive continuous improvement in all functional communications processes. Work closely with function’s leadership to develop communication approach and execute upon it for their various stakeholders.

  • Work and coordinate cross-functionally to support the strategic communications and change management communication needs of assigned organizations and leadership.

  • Support major project initiatives from both a strategic communications and tactical implementation perspective.

  • Engage as member of the Corporate Communications team to support aligned and coordinated targeted and enterprise-wide communications. Contribute to the overall team through best practice-sharing and ideas for continuous improvement.

  • Participate in department meetings and support various events and activities.

Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop communication strategies and approaches that reach targeted internal and external stakeholder(s).

  • Drive associate awareness, alignment and action to support functional goals and priorities as well as company vision, values,

  • strategy and initiatives.

  • Support desired business outcomes through message development, appropriate channel mix and creative. Leverage change management tools as appropriate or necessary.

  • Build engagement among associates and leaders in a manner that builds trust, inspires teamwork and gets business results.

  • Build appropriate Sysco business acumen to be able to develop appropriate approaches and counsel.

  • Find and share relevant news on The Dish and all appropriate channels.

  • Ensure message alignment with overall Sysco strategy and culture.

  • Support leaders (with speeches, talking points, email messages, etc.) to communicate internally and externally through effective storytelling.

  • Provide support to communicate Sysco Speaks results and action plans to internal stakeholders.

  • Develop communication messages and approach for significant organizational changes and appointments.

  • Support significant meetings and events; drive communications planning and content as required for functional activities and events.

  • Drive and share stories that celebrate associates and recognize team accomplishments.

People/Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and business partner for assigned functional leadership and their respective organizations.

  • Demonstrate a strong customer and service mindset

  • Establish a level of trust and credibility to be able to influence and coach leaders

  • Always demonstrate a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism, especially in high-pressure situations or regarding confidential or sensitive information.

  • Be skilled in active listening and be highly perceptive of situational awareness.

  • Build and manage relationships with Communications team members, business and functional leads and other critical stakeholders to promote the strategic agenda, identify communications opportunities, and foster collaboration and mutual support.

  • Demonstrate ability to work with across multiple organizational and geographical lines.

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently, manage up as appropriate and engage resources as required. • Manage outside vendors as required (for graphics, video and event production, etc.)

Required Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Communications

  • BA or BS in Communications, Journalism, English. Marketing or another applicable field

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, presentation development, editing and proofreading skills

  • Ability to learn/build necessary Sysco business acumen

  • Ability to learn/build competencies with Sysco technology tools

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments from conception to completion on deadline with minimal supervision; excellent attention to detail

  • Experience with internal and/or external communications program including planning, execution and measurement

  • Experience with creative process and applicable tools to design appropriate visuals and collateral (presentations, graphics, videos, etc.) for effective message delivery

  • Able to define success criteria, identify project risks, opportunities and core stakeholders

  • Ability to work cross functionally to drive consensus and alignment

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a focused listener able to work quickly, thoughtfully and collaboratively with different personalities

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
