Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Greater IC’s priorities.
  • Create and maintain an annual communications plan with clear goals, audiences, and metrics
  • Align messaging across economic development, advocacy, workforce, and community initiatives and including all geographic areas we serve
  • Ensure consistency in voice, tone, visual style, and brand across all platforms
  • Write and edit blog posts, newsletters, reports, press releases, and marketing materials
  • Translate complex economic and policy topics into clear, accessible messaging
  • Highlight regional successes, partnerships, and community impact through storytelling
  • Support presentations, event scripts, and talking points for staff and leadership
  • Design graphics and select photography to complement and elevate written communication
  • Develop and monitor weekly email newsletters

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear, concise messaging
  • Experience managing digital platforms, including websites, social media, and email marketing tools
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to inclusive, community-focused communications
  • Proficiency with tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, CRM systems, or similar design and email marketing platforms
  • Experience with or interest in photography and videography preferred
  • Experience working with business, government, or community stakeholders preferred
