Sales & Commercial Communications Intern

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)
Duration: Up to 12 months
Function: Sales & Commercial Communications (Student Intern)

Role Overview

SLB is seeking a highly motivated Sales & Commercial Communications Intern to support high-visibility communications initiatives within the Sales & Commercial organization. This Houston-based internship offers hands-on experience in corporate communications, event planning, and multimedia content development, with direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic business initiatives. This internship will benefit the right candidate by gaining exposure to career opportunities within the oil and gas technology industry in the communications field.

The intern will play a meaningful role in supporting two major initiatives:

  • A multi-month Customer Success Event Program running through the fall
  • The rollout and ongoing communication of Ignite, SLB’s Sales & Commercial strategic focus for the next several years

This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong communication skills, a professional presence, and an interest in corporate communications, events, and multimedia storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Support planning and execution of a large, multi-day Customer Success event series
  • Assist with event logistics including site visits, vendor coordination, agenda development, catering, awards, gifts, and on-site coordination
  • Work with third-party vendors and production partners
  • Help develop event materials such as agendas, run-of-show documents, photo plans, and attendee collateral
  • Participate in decision-making by researching options and presenting recommendations to leadership

Communications & Content Development

  • Support internal communications for the Ignite initiative, including content planning and rollout
  • Assist with creation of presentations, messaging materials, and visual assets aligned with SLB branding
  • Contribute to multimedia content such as videos, photography and video editing
  • Bring fresh ideas for engaging a diverse, global employee population through modern communication channels

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with communications leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Interact professionally with senior leaders and executives
  • Attend meetings, planning sessions, and events as a visible member of the team

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled student (or recent student) in Communications, Multimedia, Journalism, or a related field
  • Based in Houston, TX and available to work onsite on a hybrid schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional presence and comfort working with senior leaders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, proposes ideas, and follows through

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or coursework in multimedia, video production, or digital content creation
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint with the ability to create professional, executive-ready presentations
  • Familiarity with branding guidelines and corporate communications standards
  • Interest in event planning, communications strategy, or commercial/business communications
  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating creative or communications work (optional but encouraged)
