Job Summary

Drive donor storytelling and fundraising content across channels by turning sanctuary life into engaging narratives, updates, and appeals that build trust, inspire action, and grow the donor community.

  • Storytelling & copy: Draft donor letters, updates, appeals, and newsletters that communicate impact.
  • Content creation: Produce engaging social content and visuals (short-form video, photos, reels) to support campaigns.
  • Community & analytics: Foster online engagement and track performance to optimize reach and resonance.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Thank you letters: Help write warm, personalized, and highly engaging acknowledgment letters, donation receipts, and impact updates that make donors feel like the true heroes they are.
  • Sponsorship updates: Help our donors stay connected to the donkeys they've sponsored by providing quarterly updates with photos and stories.
  • Storytelling: Draft compelling donor appeals, email newsletters, and rescue success stories that clearly communicate the impact of our work. Translate the daily realities of sanctuary life, and donkey care into impactful, transparent, and donor-focused stories.
  • Website Content: Keep the website updated with fresh stories, sponsorship highlights, and events.
  • Fundraising Support: Write persuasive, emotion-driven copy for email campaigns, year-end giving, and special fundraising events.
  • Content Creation: Write, edit, and publish engaging, heartwarming, and educational content across our social platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok). Produce high-quality visual content (short-form videos, high-resolution photos, and reels)
  • Community Engagement: Foster an active, loving online community by responding to comments, messages, and interacting with followers.
  • Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on social media growth and engagement, adjusting strategies to optimize reach and follower interaction.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in copywriting, social media management, or content creation, preferably with a non-profit or animal welfare organization.
  • Passion for Animals: A genuine love for animals and a strong alignment with the mission and values of Little Longears Miniature Donkey Rescue (equine experience is a major plus!).
  • Stellar Writing Skills: Impeccable grammar, spelling, and the ability to adapt your tone to be heartwarming, urgent, or educational as needed. Excellent proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail in editing content.
  • Self-Starter: The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced non-profit environment.
  • Empathy & Audience Understanding: A deep understanding of non-profit supporters and the ability to craft communications that are emotionally resonant without being overly manipulative.
  • Proximity: Ability to commute to the New Oxford, PA farm regularly to photograph/video the herd and work alongside our animal care staff.

Preferred

  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing diverse writing samples and successful social media campaigns.
  • Media Savviness: Proficiency with social media scheduling tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite) and design tools (e.g., Canva). Experience in shooting and editing short-form video (TikTok, Facebook and Instagram Reels) is required.
