The Communication Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing internal and external communication activities for a funded healthcare project in Gaza. The position ensures consistent, accurate, and high-quality communication that supports project visibility, stakeholder engagement, and donor reporting. The Communication Coordinator will work closely with program, operations, and leadership teams to strengthen communication strategies in a complex humanitarian context.
Principal Responsibilities
Strategic Communication & Media Management
  • Develop and implement communication strategies and plans aligned with Project HOPE’s mission, values, and donor requirements.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across internal and external communication channels.
  • Manage media relations, including press releases, articles, and social media content to promote project visibility.
  • Support leadership in communication with local authorities, partners, and donors.
  • Contribute to organizational objectives through communication-related inputs for strategy, advocacy, and outreach.
Content Development & Reporting
  • Produce high-quality content for reports, newsletters, social media, and other communication materials.
  • Support the preparation of donor reports, success stories, and program highlights.
  • Ensure all communication products comply with donor branding guidelines, Project HOPE standards, and ethical considerations.
  • Maintain archives of communication materials, publications, and project documentation.
Internal Communication & Coordination
  • Facilitate effective internal communication within Gaza offices and between field teams and headquarters.
  • Support knowledge-sharing initiatives, staff engagement campaigns, and capacity-building on communication skills.
  • Coordinate with program and operations teams to gather accurate and timely information for communication purposes.
  • Assist in organizing events, workshops, and awareness campaigns in line with project objectives.
Monitoring & Evaluation of Communication Activities
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of communication activities, including media coverage, social media reach, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support lessons-learned documentation and ensure continuous improvement in communication strategies.
  • Ensure communication risks, such as misinformation or reputational concerns, are identified and mitigated.
Capacity Building & Staff Development
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to staff on communication best practices.
  • Support training initiatives on media engagement, storytelling, and digital communication tools.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous learning through effective communication practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Please list by bullet point)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of progressive experience in communications, preferably in humanitarian or NGO settings.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
  • Experience managing social media, press relations, and communication campaigns.
  • Ability to translate technical program information into accessible communication products.
  • Strong organizational, reporting, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments and cultures
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.
