Communications Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Program Manager: Workforce Development & Systems Integration

JOB SUMMARY: 

Community Education Group (CEG) seeks a detail-oriented and skilled Communications Coordinator 

to support the development, tailoring, and dissemination of communications and educational 

materials across all capacity building assistance (CBA) activities under CEG's CDC-funded 

Component D award. The Communications Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the 

Communications Manager and in coordination with the Program Manager to adapt technical 

assistance (TA) products and educational materials for use across diverse jurisdictions and service 

contexts. 

A core responsibility of this role is adapting TA products and educational materials, including a rural 

PrEP Education Toolkit, for use across CEG's priority geographies, ensuring materials are accurate, 

locally relevant, and ready for use by frontline staff. This position also supports the production of 

reports and promotional materials from Communities of Practice (CoP) sessions, the CBO Summit, 

and TA product development activities; social media and LMS updates; dissemination of cleared TA 

products; and Section 508 accessibility formatting for CDC clearance submissions. This position is 

100% dedicated to CDC-funded Component D activities.

POSITION-SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Materials Adaptation & Tailoring 

-Adapt TA products and educational materials, including the rural PrEP Education Toolkit, for 

use across CEG's priority geographies and service contexts. 

-Tailor nationally developed materials to reflect local continuum of care structures, Medicaid 

landscapes, available resources, and community demographics. 

-Ensure adapted materials are accurate, locally relevant, and ready for use by frontline staff 

at CBOs and health department partners.

-Coordinate with program staff and the Senior CBA Lead to ensure adapted materials align 

with current TA delivery needs and partner priorities. 

Communications & Materials Development 

-Support drafting and production of reports, findings, summaries, and promotional materials 

generated from CoP sessions, the CBO Summit, and TA product development activities. 

-Develop social media content and partner-facing communications to promote CBA services, 

TA products, and engagement opportunities. 

-Maintain and update content on the LMS platform to ensure accurate, current, and 

accessible training and resource materials for partners. 

-Support dissemination of cleared TA products to priority audiences through coordinated 

communications and outreach channels. 

CDC Clearance & Accessibility Compliance 

-Support Section 508 accessibility formatting for TA products submitted for CDC clearance. 

-Assist with preparation of materials for CDC clearance processes, ensuring all submissions 

meet HHS accessibility and CDC communications standards. 

-Maintain documentation of clearance status and revisions for assigned materials. 

Coordination & Reporting 

-Coordinate with the Communications Manager, Program Manager, Senior CBA Lead, and 

CBA Specialist to align communications and materials development with broader project 

priorities and workplan objectives. 

-Contribute to grant reporting and documentation by providing timely, accurate 

communications activity data to program leadership and CDC as needed. 

-Track and document the production, adaptation, and dissemination of TA products and 

partner-facing materials. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required: 

-Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, journalism, marketing, or related field; 

equivalent experience considered. 

-Minimum 3+ years of experience in public health communications, health education 

materials development, or related communications role. 

-Demonstrated experience adapting or tailoring health communications materials for specific 

audiences, jurisdictions, or service contexts. 

-Familiarity with HIV prevention, harm reduction, substance use disorder, and the public 

health landscape of rural and Appalachian communities. 

-Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements and accessible document 

formatting. 

-Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to translate technical public 

health content for diverse audiences. 

-Experience with social media platforms, LMS platforms, and digital communications tools.

-Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple materials development projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Preferred: 

-Prior experience working within CDC-funded programs or with CDC communications 

standards. 

-Familiarity with CDC clearance processes, including Project Initiation Forms (PIFs). 

-Experience developing health communications materials for community-based audiences, 

frontline staff, or rural and underserved communities. 

-Familiarity with the PrEP Education Toolkit or similar HIV prevention education resources. 

-Lived experience or direct service work in communities affected by HIV, substance use, or 

related health disparities. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

Up to 15% travel required for summits, partner convenings, and training events. 

COMPENSATION: 

$70,000 annual salary.
