Job Description

Job Summary
The Communications Assistant for the Extension and Extended Campus department serves as Communications Assistant supporting a variety of marketing and content creation needs across the division, with an expert focus on social media, digital storytelling, and brand alignment. This position plays a key role in amplifying the division’s message across platforms and assisting with the development of engaging, visually informed content.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role.
  • Effective writing and editing skills with attention to detail, tone, and voice.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite and communication tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience developing and managing content for social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Proficiency with social media management tools such as Hootsuite (or similar platforms) to schedule posts, monitor engagement, and track performance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop written marketing content for digital and print channels, with a primary emphasis on social media platforms (X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn), newsletters, promotional campaigns, and email communications.
  • Proofread and edit communications and marketing materials for tone, clarity, and alignment with UTA’s style guide, ensuring high-quality, error-free content.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to brainstorm, plan, and execute engaging campaigns and content calendars that align with divisional goals and strategic priorities.
  • Support division departments with tailored marketing and communication materials as needed, including flyers, announcements, and digital content.
  • Assist with graphic design or collaborate with design professionals, offering content suggestions and reviewing visuals for clarity and message alignment.
  • Maintain and update presentation materials and a digital content library, including statistical data, archival materials, and assets from division departments.
  • Review and update web content across the division’s sites in partnership with web administrators, maintaining accessibility per university standards.
  • Stay current on trends in digital marketing, social media strategy, and audience engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
