Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a structured review of the organization’s website and existing communication materials (website, social media, donor materials) to identify errors, gaps, improvement areas, and co-develop a prioritized action plan within the first 2–3 weeks
  • Support web content updates and improvements, including language refinement, restructuring of existing pages and development of new sections during weeks 3–8
  • Co-develop and implement a social media strategy, including creating a content calendar, set up or optimize platforms, and provide weekly support for social media engagement with photos, appropriate messages, and hashtags
  • Facilitate two virtual capacity-building sessions (60–90 minutes) with staff, focusing on content creation, storytelling, basic design (Canva), and social media management
  • Review and support the improvement of printed communication materials (e.g. posters, outreach materials) and co-develop 2–3 templates or designs (e.g. job vacancy posters, community information posters, educational materials) using Canva by the end of the engagement
  • VSPPs are expected to engage on the tasks listed above for an estimated 5–15 hours per week. This engagement is estimated to be five hours per week.
  • Online collaboration will generally occur between 3:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. Namibia Time. Specific times will be determined during orientation.
  • The host country counterpart will have access to WhatsApp, zoom, WordPress, and Canva for regular communication and collaboration.
  • Per the Child Protection Code of Conduct, when engaging online with minors (0–18), two adults must be present.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • Experience: 1 year developing digital communications, brand campaigns, or social media
  • Intercultural skills and motivation: Flexible, strong cross-cultural agility, high tolerance for ambiguity, able to work independently, resourceful, creative, and genuinely motivated and capable to serve virtually
  • ELIGIBILITY: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a U.S. citizen.
