Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Review campaign performance or progress on current initiatives, then align on messaging, timelines, and next steps with the marketing and communications team.
  • Regularly review content, provide direction, and help the team make decisions that keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Ensure execution stays aligned with strategy; participate in campaign planning, review drafts of communications, and work through how different efforts connect across email, social media, events, and member outreach.
  • Help the team balance competing priorities, especially during high-demand periods.
  • Work closely with the Membership and Volunteer Engagement team to ensure marketing efforts support recruitment, retention, and overall engagement; develop understanding of the member journey and value proposition; ensure messaging speaks to members relevant to their journey.
  • During event-heavy seasons, focus on driving attendance, refining promotional strategies, and ensuring strong visibility across channels; outside those periods, maintain steady attention on membership engagement.
  • Maintain regular communication with the CEO and executive leadership team, ensuring alignment on priorities, messaging, and organizational direction; share performance insights, provide recommendations, or adjust strategies as needed.
  • Serve as a key voice in how the organization positions itself and communicates with its global audience.
  • Review insights, guide prioritization, and help the organization focus on efforts that will have the greatest impact; adjust based on data and opportunities.
  • Make decisions that connect, brand, and organizational outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
  • twelve to fifteen years of progressive leadership experience in marketing communications and membership growth (preferably in an association, nonprofit, or global organization).
  • demonstrated success leading direct response marketing programs across digital, email, social, print, paid media, and integrated campaigns with proven ROI.
  • exceptional storytelling, PR, and executive communication skills with experience navigating complex or sensitive issues.
  • strong capability in digital strategy, analytics, CRM/AMS systems, and data-driven marketing methodologies.
  • collaborative leadership style with a deep understanding of membership models, value communication, and community engagement.
  • proven experience building, refining, and mentoring high-performing teams.
