JAPANMART, an authentic Japanese style convenience store, is seeking a friendly, reliable, and motivated JAPANMART Barista to support daily operations for our JAPANMART cooked foods and drinks section. Team members will assist with food preparation, customer service, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, delivering great service, and being part of a supportive team.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
Employment Type: Part-Time (Hours worked per week to be 30 hours or less depending on business needs. Must be flexible with scheduling.)

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items, including soufflé pancakes, and craft beverages in accordance with brand recipes and standards, maintaining consistent quality, presentation, and timely service
• Follow instructions and guidance provided by direct supervisor
• Ensure proper portion control and presentation
• Maintain speed and efficiency during peak hours
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly
• Monitor cooking times and food quality
• Follow all food safety regulations and sanitation procedures
• Maintain proper food temperature and storage standards
• Prevent cross-contamination and maintain hygiene standards
• Assist with ingredient preparation and restocking
• Monitor kitchen supplies and report shortages
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures
• Work collaboratively with JAPANMART team members to ensure smooth operations and order flow
• Communicate effectively during busy periods
• Support team members to maintain efficient operations
• Communicate effectively and provide friendly, professional customer service
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations

Qualifications

• Experience in food service, café, or restaurant preferred, but not required — training provided
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Friendly, positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Ability to stand for periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and food quality
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team setting
• Bilingual (English/Japanese) is preferred but not required
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Food Handler Certification

• $18.00 per hour

Workspace is restricted and employees are generally expected to remain standing for long periods of time.
