Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage communication journeys for registrants, donors, and other acquired audiences across email, SMS, and other owned channels.
  • Create audience communication plans that support engagement, retention, education, and long-term commitment.
  • Write, edit, schedule, and optimize communications that are clear, mission-driven, and audience-centered.
  • Partner with the Head of Marketing and Communications to align messaging strategy with organizational priorities and donor engagement goals.
  • Segment audiences and tailor communications to support different stages of the supporter journey.
  • Monitor and analyze communication performance, including open rates, click rates, conversion rates, retention indicators, and engagement trends.
  • Run testing and optimization initiatives to improve messaging effectiveness, audience responsiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Use data and insights to refine content, timing, frequency, and channel mix.
  • Maintain a consistent communication experience across campaigns, automations, and ongoing lifecycle messaging.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure communications are accurate, timely, compliant, and aligned with brand standards.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in customer relations, lifecycle marketing, donor communications, CRM, email marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing email and SMS communications, including automated journeys and campaign calendars.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences.
  • Experience using data to analyze performance and improve communications.
  • Familiarity with segmentation, A/B testing, and audience journey design.
  • Comfort working with email marketing tools and messaging platforms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of donor, registrant, or supporter engagement in a mission-driven environment.
  • Commitment to the client's mission and long-term audience relationship building.

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, fundraising, or donor engagement communications.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM tools.
  • Experience building retention, re-engagement, or nurture campaigns.
  • Understanding of compliance considerations for email and SMS communications.
  • Experience improving audience journey performance through testing and optimization.
