Job Summary

Own the campus recreation program portfolio, coordinating events, staff leadership, budget management, safety, and strategic alignment to student needs and university goals.

  • Lead program development, promotion, assessment, and continuous improvement across events, sports, and community-service initiatives.
  • Oversee staff supervision, performance reviews, hiring, and student leadership development, ensuring high-quality service and compliance.
  • Manage risk, safety, and reporting while building partnerships with administrators, faculty, and student groups to scale impact.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all Campus Recreation Programs such as Special Events, Rec Nights, Community Service, Sports, and Summer Programs, including development, promotion, execution, assessment, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist with strategic planning by establishing and recommending goals, policies, and procedures that align with the university's standards; recommend enhancements to improve program performance and outcomes.
  • Develop new programs and offerings that meet departmental and student needs.
  • Coordinate program operations, monitor progress, set performance standards, analyze participation and demographic data, and provide guidance to professional staff and student leaders.
  • Supervise program staff, conduct performance evaluations, manage personnel actions, and set expectations for professional staff coordinators(s) under supervision.
  • Meet regularly with professional staff to review performance, evaluate student employees, and advise on personnel decisions, and approve student staff hiring processes.
  • Manage program budgets for Campus Recreation Programs in collaboration with area coordinators; set revenue goals, assess results, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Generate detailed reports by compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data to develop findings and recommendations
  • Assess risk management and safety compliance across all programs in partnership with professional staff.
  • Meet regularly with the director or associate director to align program goals, resolve issues, and discuss strategic direction.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Communications, Higher Education, Recreation, Sport Management, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience supervising campus recreation programs, developing community-based and revenue-generating programs, or a related field.
  • Strong computer skills and thorough familiarity with social media technology (FB, TikTok, Instagram, etc.).
  • Weekend and evening availability as needed.

Preferred

  • Special Events and Community Service programming experience in a college setting.
  • Ability to acquire considerable knowledge of the program or unit's purpose, goals, and objectives.
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of budget planning, development, and administration.
  • Proficiency in Fusion Software Management systems.
  • Ability to acquire a wide knowledge of college policies and procedures.
