Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will work alongside the Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing to positively promote Capital University Athletics' 23 varsity teams and engage its supporters, fans, and student-athletes among other stakeholders.
  • The candidate will serve as the primary media contact for multiple programs and aid with in-game operations for various sports.
  • This role will also play a significant part in managing the Capital Athletics streaming and partnership with FloSports.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing in maintaining the brand for Capital Athletics through the creation of creative graphics, videos, social media posts, etc.
  • This role will be responsible for taking the lead on all creative media production and management for Capital Athletics and the individual teams.
  • Furthermore, this role will take on an enhanced responsibility for managing the department's student game-day and office staff.
  • This role will also serve as the Campus Advisor for the Pride of the Purple Student Section.
  • Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, game management, statistics entry, game recapping, news release and feature story writing, and the creation and management of website content (athletics.capital.edu).
  • The candidate will create digital assets for Capital Athletics and individual sports teams, contribute to a strong digital presence through video, social media, and graphic design, and assist in the management of student office and game day staff.
  • Evening and weekend work are required. Hours will fluctuate based on event schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in sport management, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Previous work experience in a sports information or athletic communications department is desired.
  • Proven experience in video streaming, video editing, AP Style writing, graphic design, and/or social media use is required for this role.
  • Applicant should have excellent communication skills.

Preferred

  • Additional beneficial experience may include work with Adobe Creative Suite, Sidearm Sports, Genius Live Stats, PrestoStats and/or Stat Crew.
