We’re looking for an Accounting Manager to own and strengthen our day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close process. This role will ensure our financial processes run smoothly throughout the month, setting the business up for a consistent, accurate, and timely close.

You’ll partner closely with the Director of Finance and work alongside our Accounting Coordinator to maintain high standards of accuracy, improve processes, and bring greater structure and visibility to our financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, working hands-on in the details, and improving processes in a growing, evolving environment.

Skills and experience

• 4–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a professional services, agency, or project-based environment
• Strong understanding of month-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
• Experience owning or taking primary responsibility for components of the month-end close process
• Familiarity with revenue recognition in a services-based business (e.g., % complete or project-based accounting)
• Experience working through an audit process and supporting audit requests
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to identify process gaps, take initiative, and improve workflows in a fast-moving, evolving environment
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite and QuickBooks Online (or similar), and proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
• CPA not required

What you’ll do

• Own key components of the month-end close process, including bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet schedules (prepaids, accruals, fixed assets), and supporting documentation
• Drive close readiness by ensuring day-to-day accounting activities are completed accurately and on time throughout the month, stepping in as needed to support execution
• Partner with the Accounting Coordinator to execute and oversee transactional workflows (AR, AP, expenses), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong documentation
• Prepare financial reports and organize supporting documentation following month-end close
• Serve as the first point of contact for audit requests, gathering and coordinating required documentation and responses
• Execute and support client invoicing by translating project-level inputs into accurate and timely invoices
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, documentation, and controls to increase efficiency, consistency, and close reliability
• Take a hands-on approach to accounting operations, balancing ownership and oversight with a willingness to step in and execute as needed
