Job Description

As a Fact & Fiction Account Manager, you are the engine behind the day-to-day success of the agency. You own the project process from kickoff to delivery, ensuring client and internal alignment, driving follow-ups, and holding the team to deadlines while building strong, trusted relationships with clients and agency partners. You thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting and lead with both initiative and empathy. You love collaboration and know how to balance what’s best for the client with what’s best for the work. Ultimately, you’re the glue that keeps business, relationships and outcomes connected, and you take incredible pride in the collective impact we make for our clients.

We are open to candidates within commuting distance to Kansas City or Boulder, excited about collaborating in person two days per week in a hybrid working environment. We are not open to 100% remote candidates.

Can do this

  • Own the day-to-day operations and communications for your accounts, keeping everything buttoned-up, proactive, and moving forward
  • Run client meetings including weekly status and creative reviews. Set agendas, steer discussions, and deliver same-day recaps with clear action steps, owners, and timing
  • Be intimately involved in all aspects of projects alongside Project Management, staying a step ahead of the client and ensuring delivery of work that is on-brief, on-schedule, and on-budget
  • Prepare and present polished materials for client meetings, including status updates, creative presentations, and performance recaps
  • Identify and understand your clients’ business needs, industry, and competition — and care about them as if they were your own
  • Champion and facilitate cross-functional collaboration across creative, strategy, media, and production teams
  • Initiate projects and ensure that briefs, scope documents, and direction to the agency team are sufficiently detailed and clear. Monitor for scope creep by tracking rounds and proactively managing the situation with clients and your manager
  • Own billing documentation, monthly financial projections, and budget reconciliation for your accounts
  • Identify organic growth opportunities and proactive recommendations within existing client relationships, developing proposals with senior leadership
  • Drive brand and business strategy discussions, bringing a prepared, outcome-based point of view informed by research and client knowledge
  • Navigate ambiguity with composure and authority — when things are unclear, drive toward clarity, make decisions where appropriate, and bring solutions rather than just questions
  • Anticipate next steps across your accounts and keep the team a step ahead — checking calendars, prepping stakeholders, and ensuring full context before every touchpoint
  • Enforce version control, organized drive management, and rigorous quality checks on all deliverables before they reach clients

Must haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Advertising, Communications, Marketing, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience in an advertising agency, digital marketing firm, or in-house marketing team
  • Comfort with a hybrid work model (in-office two days per week in Boulder or Kansas City)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10%)
  • A bias toward action over perfection — you know when “done” beats “perfect” and can make that call confidently
  • Comfort adapting your approach based on how different teammates and clients work best

What sets you apart

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with a keen attention to detail. You catch what others miss and you hold the standard
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both internally and client-facing, with the desire and courage to have an outcome-based POV
  • Proven experience working closely with creative and production resources in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. You see around corners and bring answers, not just questions
  • Collaborative by nature, but able to work independently and meet deadlines without handholding. You give and receive constructive feedback with empathy and openness
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, Monday, Basecamp, or similar)
  • Content and production experience strongly preferred
  • Genuine curiosity about brands, culture, and what makes people pay attention
  • A connector mindset — you instinctively pull the right people into the room and know how to get the best out of cross-functional teams

What we give you

  • Interesting clients to work on – from Fortune 500 to fast-growing startups.
  • Generous holidays, including the week off between Christmas and New Year.
  • Flex PTO.
  • Strong health plans, 100% company paid health, dental, and vision.
  • Matching 401k.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Life Insurance.
  • A collaborative, no-ego culture where people genuinely have each other's backs

Fact & Fiction

Where agency meets production company. Where truth meets storytelling. Where Fact meets Fiction. To the world that doesn’t know us, we’re just another agency. Probably a “digital agency” or an “ad agency” or maybe even a “production agency.” And telling the world we’re a “strategic brand solutions content producer” comes across as pretty pretentious. So we simply say that we’re an insight-based creative content shop. What does that mean?Well, in the age of digital and big data, it has never been easier to find facts. But unfortunately, it has never been harder to uncover the truth. Our existence, down to our name, is about finding the most relevant elements of human truth and paying it off through amazing storytelling and brand experiences worth paying attention to. We’ve found that working this way allows us to quickly create shareable content and highly-engaging campaigns that drive meaningful and longterm business results for brands. And, as content continues to become increasingly vital in connecting with consumers in a 24/7, 365 digital world, brands are finding it difficult to keep up. Which is why Fact & Fiction is structured to move at the speed of modern, providing a more effective, relevant and nimble option for brands that don’t want to sacrifice quality. Our team is built differently, combining strategy, creative and content creation in one seamless and highly collaborative team. Which allows us to move at the speed that digital, and business, requires.
