Job Description

Account Coordinator, Literary

ABOUT DEY.

DEY. partners with some of the world’s most influential organizations, authors, and thinkers to amplify their big ideas and help them make a meaningful impact in society. We’re a boutique but global advisory and communications firm focused on the issues shaping the future: climate, global health, AI and technology, foreign policy, philanthropy, and more.

Our approach emphasizes quality over quantity. We work with a curated list of clients who share a commitment to moving the needle on the big ideas shaping the future of humanity across climate, economics, technology, AI, global health, and social impact. This cross-sector vantage gives us a panoramic view of emerging ideas and lets us connect dots others miss.

Ideas move through people, shaped by the culture around them. What people read, watch, debate, and absorb determines whether new ideas take hold, so our team stays naturally curious and deliberately immersed in culture, from literature and journalism to film, art, history, and the broader currents of public life.

Our portfolio includes Nobel Prize winners, globally recognized NGOs, philanthropic organizations, innovative think tanks, distinguished nonfiction authors, and institutions like The World Bank, The Ford Foundation, the United Nations, MIT, The Gates Foundation, and Stanford Medicine. Every member of our team, at every level, works directly with clients at this caliber.

THE ROLE

The Account Coordinator, Literary is an entry-level position and a genuine opportunity for professional growth, with a focus on DEY.'s nonfiction book publicity work. Reporting to the Account Executive of the Literary practice for book-related work and to the Vice President for broader DEY. assignments, you will support publicity campaigns for high-profile authors writing on topics like current events, health, science, technology, and economics, while also contributing to DEY.'s agency-wide operations. Through mentorship and hands-on experience, you will build foundational skills in media relations, campaign execution, and client stewardship from day one.

  • Conduct industry research, competitive landscaping, and client-specific analysis to inform strategy and campaign planning
  • Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance for internal teams and clients
  • Conduct outreach to media contacts and assist in identifying relevant media targets as assigned

Content Development + Writing

  • Draft and refine pitch materials, client emails, media briefs, press releases, case studies, and briefing documents in advance of interviews and speaking opportunities
  • Manage DEY.'s agency social media presence, including posting, responding to comments, and monthly reporting

New Business Support

  • Research potential new clients ahead of business development meetings
  • Support the end-to-end business development process, including research, pitch strategy, and proposal writing
  • Track and follow up on new business prospects via the Literary practice's new business tracker

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • BA in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; clear, concise, and compelling across formats
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent research skills, with the ability to synthesize and analyze information quickly
  • Proactive mindset: you anticipate needs, manage your time well, and come with solutions, not just questions
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and digital communications tools
  • A genuine passion for books, ideas, and the written word, and curiosity about the issues DEY.'s authors explore
  • Must reside in the tri-state area, with availability to meet in Greater New York City as needed

NICE TO HAVE
