Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The annual conference social media coordinator works as part of the conference committee, on the marketing and communications team, to actively monitor and respond to social media channels and Slack, provide regular updates as needed, oversee digital/social advertising, and create new ways of engaging with our attendees, sponsors and presenters.
  • Coordinate with the conference communications plan to develop and implement social marketing campaigns, including advertising.
  • Establish use of official hashtags and other conference-related assets.
  • Regularly monitor relevant hashtags, social platforms and Slack channels for questions and comments about the conference.
  • Respond to annual conference inquiries, including direct messages, within one business day in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Share about the conference, including important deadlines and other updates.
  • Maintain and represent the association voice and tone in all responses and shared content.
  • Maintain assets across all social channels.
  • Recommend tactics and tools to help the conference achieve its goals.
  • Promote the conference through personal social media and professional networks.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, including best practices and promotional opportunities (inc. targeted paid campaigns).
  • Understanding of organizational branding and how to further it on social.
  • Proficient in content strategy theory and application.
  • Membership in the association (including free general membership), which can be fulfilled at application.
  • Familiarity with the association.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience as a social media coordinator for an organization or business
  • Work experience in a public relations environment.
  • Ability to produce video or graphics
  • Experience coordinating a social media team.
  • Past volunteer experience.
  • Ability to work with project management/team communication platforms such as Slack, Clickup, etc.
  • Google Drive proficiency.
