Job Description

Position Overview
i3 Academy Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Middle School Social Studies Teacher who is passionate about history, civics, and geographyand who embraces technology and project-based learning to drive student engagement and achievement. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, student-centered environment and is committed to delivering standards-aligned instruction that prepares students for success in high school and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Alabama Course of Study: Social Studies standards.
  • Implement technology-infused, project-based learning experiences that promote inquiry, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application.
  • Integrate interactive digital tools, including learning management systems, simulations, virtual field trips, and multimedia storytelling platforms.
  • Assess student progress through performance-based assessments, rubrics, and formative data. Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and participate in school-wide innovation and enrichment efforts.
  • Foster a classroom environment that supports equity, cultural relevance, and the development of responsible, informed citizens.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Alabama Class B or higher teaching certificate in Social Studies for Grades 612 or Middle-Level Social Studies endorsement (Grades 68).
  • Proven ability to design and implement instruction aligned with state standards.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies that support differentiation and student voice.
  • Demonstrated classroom experience in middle grades (grades 68).
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to support instruction and assessment.
  • Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or Social Sciences.
  • Demonstrated success with project-based learning and digital integration in the classroom.
  • Experience using platforms such as Google Workspace for Education, Nearpod, iCivics, or similar.
