Job Summary

The Sr. Donor Communications Officer will own strategic donor storytelling from narrative development through high‑stakes content production and oversee major campaigns and digital engagement efforts.

  • Shape multi‑platform content, maintain consistent tone, and use analytics to optimize donor engagement.
  • Guide brand direction and messaging across annual fund and philanthropy campaigns.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Sr. Donor Communications Officer provides advanced expertise in donor-facing communications by shaping strategic narratives, leading sophisticated content development, and ensuring brand and message cohesion across philanthropy.
  • Oversees complex projects such as impact report cycles, major campaigns, multimedia storytelling, and digital engagement strategies.
  • Advises partners, mentors junior staff, and ensures communications are compelling, accurate, and aligned with donor motivations and organizational priorities.
  • Depending on team assignment, this role may support any of the following functions. Donor Communications and Storytelling: Leads narrative strategy, serves as chief writer/editor, and produces high‑stakes content such as leadership talking points, donor reports, and major campaign storytelling.
  • Social Media and Digital Content: Designs multi‑platform strategies, oversees digital tone/voice, and uses analytics to refine engagement and donor conversion.
  • Creative Services: Leads design direction, produces complex brand‑critical visual assets, and develops integrated creative concepts for campaigns and impact reporting.
  • Annual Fund and Brand Management: Creates brand strategy for annual giving, develops segmentation frameworks, and leads creative direction for annual fund messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires working knowledge of fundraising software, i.e. Raiser's Edge, Salesforce.
  • Requires proficiency in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Preferred

  • Experience with a matrix organization and complex work environment is preferred.
